Green Roof – Biodiverse

A BIODIVERSE ROOF (sometimes termed a “brown roof”) is an ecological, low-maintenance, and lightweight green roof system designed to mimic natural habitats, supporting varied native plant and animal life.

Unlike sedum-only roofs, these systems often use a mosaic of habitats—including sand, gravel, stone piles, and rotting wood—to encourage biodiversity, particularly for invertebrates and rare bird species.

Wildlife habitat feature made from stacked logs, branches and native planting to support insects and small animals.
