Founded in 1988 and based in Meltham in the heart of the Pennines, ABG has developed an excellent reputation for developing quality products and outstanding service. The ability for rapid product development ensures that the most innovative, up to date and cost effective solution can be found for many engineering problems. ABG design, manufacture and supply a full range of system components for rooftop and podium level stormwater attenuation projects.

Green and Blue Roof Design

Our involvement with Green and Blue Roofs extends to over thirty years and we have a comprehensive product range developed specifically for this application. During this period we have supplied products to award winning projects throughout the UK, Ireland and beyond, including over one million square metres of geocomposite drainage for blue roof systems and extensive green roof projects.

We work with the project architects and building engineers to calculate and supply all the materials required above the waterproofing layer to meet the surface water reduction or discharge consent limit.

The system components encompass the drainage board / reservoir layers, filtration, protection and separator geotextiles, void formers, inspection / restrictor chambers, growing media and planting.

Design support is provided by our trained and experienced staff and this includes design, design confirmation, feasibility study, cost advice and meeting regulatory requirements.

Blue Roof Pioneers

ABG designed and supplied the UK’s first blue roof system for the Huddersfield University Student Learning and Leisure Centre (SLLC) development, built on the campus in the heart of the town centre (ABG blueroof, Green Extensive Roof, Huddersfield, UK). The system was installed in 2013 and is still in operation today.
